Eating and Drinking

The phrase “spoiled for choice” sums it up. There are so many good places to eat and drink near Hollytree and all have something to recommend them, whatever your budget.

Adjacent to the house are The Old Ferrie Inn, 10 minutes walk, the Wye Knott Inn, 20 minutes walk and the Old Court Hotel, 25 minutes walk. Across the river is the Saracens Head, 5 minutes walk and 2 minutes ferry. There are 2 ferries to Symonds Yat East, the one that runs just below Hollytree and the one that runs from the Old Ferrie Inn. We don’t recommend particular places – after all our tastes might be quite different from yours, but groups who’ve stayed with us have all had good things to say about all of the places listed below.

If you want to travel slightly further afield and don’t mind spending a little more money the following are places we’ve eaten and enjoyed, but our suggestion is before you book anywhere check Trip Advisor and make your own mind up.

For buying snacks, food ingredients, deli items, wines, fresh bread and pizzas there’s few places as good as Woods of Whitchurch which is just at the bottom of the lane to Hollytree, a really lovely shop. It takes about 5 minutes to drive there.

Eating In
